A 30 minute class for children aged 2-4. In our 'Tiny Tots' class, children learn the basic concepts of Ballet and dance in a fun, high energy environment. Students explore playing characters, dress-ups, and interacting with each other. In the class children will learn the basics of timing, musicality, and safe dance.
McCormick Dance Centre proudly teaches Ballet under the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D) syllabus. The R.A.D is a leading global Ballet syllabus, taught in over 85 countries. In your R.A.D Ballet class you will learn technique across barre and centre work, as well as Character Dance and pointe (in senior grades). In R.A.D classes, students will attend a yearly practical exam to assess their progress and move to the next grade.
In our Jazz classes, students learn the Australasian Dance Association (ADA) syllabus. These Jazz classes include energetic and groovy styles of Jazz, and focus on building strong and dynamic exam technique. Students in ADA Jazz classes can sit practical exams to progress levels.
In our ADA tap classes, students learn rhythm, musicality, and coordination all while making lots of noise! Tap technique classes are the perfect class for children wanting to refine their technique for ADA exams.
Contemporary uses expression and abstract ballet technique to push the boundaries of dance. Our Contemporary classes focus on the basics of floor work, travelling, extension, turns, leaps, and partner work. Contemporary/lyrical classes also have a strong focus on body conditioning and flexibility. Our ADA Contemporary classes prepare dancers for examinations. It is strongly encouraged that students wanting to enter contemporary exams also take ballet classes.
In our Musical Theatre classes, students learn to perform and storytell through song and dance Students will learn how to portray characters and act while dancing. Students will also learn dances from popular Musical productions.
Improve both flexibility and strength in AcroDance classes. With a strong focus on safety and modesty, AcroDance combines acrobatic skills with elements of dance and artistry to create an impressive performance.
Students can enrol in a Performance Class for each dance genre they learn. In these classes students learn dance routines to perform at the dance concert, community events, and dance Eisteddfods
McCormick Dance Centre offers weekly adults Ballet and Jazz classes- for beginners or those with a bit of dance experience. These classes are drop-in and are $20 per class. Contact us for more information and class times.
New at McCormick Dance Centre is our baby-wearing fitness class for mums. This class is ideal for post-partum mums getting back into fitness. It involves body conditioning and strength exercises based on ballet technique. No dance experience is needed. Contact us for more information and class times.
Private lessons are available in 30 or 60 minute time slots. Students can attend private lessons to improve their technique and exam work, or learn and rehearse dance routines to perform at concerts and Eisteddfods. Private lesson pricing starts at $25.

This class is for children aged 4-6 (approx), and is an introduction to the prestigious R.A.D Ballet syllabus. In this class, students learn the fundamental movements of ballet, such as pliés, tendus, and relevés. They also learn basic ballet positions. The syllabus also includes simple jumps and turns, which help children develop their balance and coordination.
This level is for children aged 5-7 years old. Primary focusses on building a strong foundation in classical ballet technique and developing coordination, musicality, and creativity.

Students in Intermediate Foundation are introduced to complex ballet steps and combinations, turns, and jumps. Intermediate Foundation is also the first level where female students will learn to dance 'en pointe'.
